JOB TITLE : R&D Director (Life Science)

JOB SUMMARY
Contribute to the overall the company R&D Lab business in terms of product development and business performance. Drive technology innovation & revenue growth in supporting various OEM Customers’ product development (specifically in fast growing Life Science segment). Identify opportunity and deliver value capture in Life Science ecosystem to drive growth and sustainability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Lead the team to deliver advanced Life Science Instrumentation/System for various OEM Customers
- Manage both Program Managers and Functional Managers on R&D resources planning in supporting various R&D programs. Drive Product Development rigors and seek opportunity to improve in-house product development processes with OEM Customer requirement in mind
- Oversee product development initiatives and in-house technology capabilities development roadmap
- Ensure robust Product Development Process deployed in various programs and program teams meeting the phase exits criteria
- Accountable for the product performance and acceptance by OEM Customers
BUSINESS GROWTH & REVENUE GENERATION
- Participate in business development activities to continuously explore opportunities with new and existing customers
- Establish strong relationship with OEM Customer and be the strong advocate of the company’s R&D capabilities in supporting customer’s growth story
- Accountable for business overall health and seeking opportunity for growth. Profit & Loss responsibility and seek to optimize business profitability
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Manage a group of R&D managers and technologist, and be responsible for their recruitment, training and development
- Business travel is required as assigned
- Perform any other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- PhD/Masters in Engineering or Sciences (bio-chemistry related) with minimum 10-15 years of experience in a product development capacity and R&D Lab management role
- Good knowledge of Product Life Cycle Management and experience in managing high complexity program with cross-functional involvement
- Demonstrated knowledge in analyzing the risks & benefits in development of different products
- Demonstrated experience working with customers and alliance partners that strategically align with target markets
- Driven and passionate leadership in leading and coaching the R&D managers and team members
